Robot Arms.Robot arms are the most versatile of all the robot types.
Robot arms are generally 6 axis robots as shown above. If your process requires a six axis robot then the following is what you must look at when selecting the correct robot to use. Payload or Weight Work Envelope The repeatability - i.e. how close will the robot repeat a sequence, will also determine its suitability, for a given application. Controller The controller will give the possibility of controlling auxiliary items, associated with the robot. The gripper or end effector springs to mind, as an obvious contender to be controlled, in such a fashion. This is referred to as "Remote Input/Output or I/O capability". If the robot in going to be employed in a fairly simple cell, then the built in I/O can control all components, otherwise a separate logic controller, must be used. For manufacturers of 6 axis robots, try these links: Please note that the above listed companies are by no means the only manufacturers, nor the only ones we have used, over the years, but they do make an excellent product, THAT IN THE CORRECT APPLICATION, should give years of trouble free service.
