Pneumatic Pick and Place Units

Pick and Place Units are the Simplest and the
Least Expensive of Industrial Robots

These pneumatic units are the simplest (and also the least expensive!) of all types of robots, as used in factory automation.

Each axis consists of an air cylinder and some form of precision slide. They are very repeatable (+or-0.001"or better), but not programmable for different positions.

A typical application would be as part of an automatic station, in an automated assembly system. The first axis would be say, horizontal and the second axis vertical. A gripper would be bolted to the vertical axis slide.

It is not necessary to design and build your own axis. There are many companies who manufacture units, that are designed as modules, thus reducing cost.
