Laser Marking is Best When Marking is Complex

Marking of parts with a laser, is best applied, when the marking is very complex.

Lasers appear to be dropping in price, on a daily basis, but it is still the most expensive option available. (The mechanical dot-matrix part marking systems are a viable alternative.) However, in some applications, laser-marking can be the way to go.

Barcodes are simple to laser engrave. Complex corporate logos or complete labels, can also be generated.

Simple stand-alone units are available, as well as modular units that can be integrated into automated systems.

If it is required to mark around the periphery of a part, then it may be necessary to rotate the part to minimize character distortion.

Standard machines are available, that incorporate a servo-driven chuck, thereby offering a solution to this problem.

Both CO2 and YAG lasers are offered.

The choice, as always, is dependant on the specific application and of course, the cost.
